Authorities removed a passenger from an American Airlines flight at Miami International Airport after she undressed and engaged in indecent behavior mid-flight.

American Airlines Flight 1779 from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport was met by authorities after landing “due to a disruptive customer,” according to the airline.

Flight 1779 departed at 9 p.m. EDT on Friday, Sept. 11, 2025, after being delayed by almost two hours, according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24.

Mid-Flight Disturbance

A flight attendant alerted the cockpit crew during the flight about a passenger causing a disturbance in row 9. According to Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) datalink logs, the crew member reported that the female passenger completely undressed and engaged in indecent acts.

The flight continued to Miami International Airport without diverting and arrived at Gate D2 in Terminal N.

In a statement, American Airlines said,  “The individual was removed from the aircraft.” The statement added, “The safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and thank our crew members for their professionalism.”

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident. In a statement, it said that deputies responded “regarding a disturbance on board.”

The sheriff’s office said, “The preliminary investigation revealed that the disturbance happened in flight, which prompted MDSO to reach out to the FBI.”

Indecent Behavior

The female passenger seated in the ninth row completely undressed and engaged in sexually explicit acts, according to Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System logs. Neither the airline nor the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office shared specifics about the passenger’s actions during the flight.

It also remains unclear what measures the cabin crew took during the flight to manage the disturbance.

The FAA had already logged 1,200 reports of unruly passengers as of September 2026. In all of 2025, there were 1,621 reports of unruly passengers, compared with 2,096 the year before.
