Allegiant Air Expands Beyond Budget Travel With Allegiant First

Ultra-low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is expanding beyond its traditional business model with the introduction of Allegiant First, its new first-class cabin. The upgraded seating option offers travelers greater comfort, flexibility, and premium perks.

This new seating class will feature eight seats and complimentary beverages. However, the airline clarified that Allegiant First will not replace Allegiant Extra, which gives passengers extra legroom.

Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement,  “This is about giving customers more ways to travel with us.”

He added, “As we bring together two highly complementary leisure airlines, we see significant opportunity to expand complimentary and premium offerings in a way that strengthens the customer experience and supports the long-term growth of the combined company.”

Premium Option

The new premium option offers more than just added comfort. It includes priority check-in, boarding, and one free carry-on and checked bag up to 70 pounds.

According to Wells, “Travelers are increasingly looking for more comfort, more personalization and more flexibility, and these new offerings are a meaningful step forward in delivering that.”

Allegiant First will be available on select aircraft. Allegiant First tickets are expected to go on sale in mid-August.

Expedia Partnership

The airline has recently sought to strengthen customer loyalty. Earlier this month, Allegiant partnered with Expedia, an online travel agency. The partnership makes Expedia the first authorized travel agency to distribute Allegiant flights. It is expected to expand Allegiant’s reach among U.S. travelers.

The 12-month agreement combines Allegiant’s 566 routes across 124 U.S. cities with Expedia’s U.S. travel brands. The partnership is expected to help the airline appeal to a wider range of travelers.

Wells said, “Allegiant has always focused on connecting travelers to popular destinations by providing affordable, nonstop flights. This agreement allows us to reach new audiences through Expedia Group’s global platform while maintaining our commitment to value and simplicity.”
