Delta joins Drawdown Georgia Business Compact

Delta Air Lines is continuing its commitment as a sustainability leader in our home state, joining a coalition of Georgia businesses committed to developing a just, competitive and sustainable transition to net-zero emissions by 2050.

The Drawdown Georgia Business Compact is a collaborative initiative through the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business.

“We are proud to be the first carbon-neutral airline on a global basis, and we are very focused on how we can reduce our emissions,” said Amelia DeLuca, Delta’s Managing Director of Sustainability. “We look forward to partnering with other local businesses to learn and collaborate on best practices for reaching our net-zero emissions goals.”

In support of Drawdown Georgia’s mission, companies commit to supporting Georgia’s transition to net-zero carbon emissions, participating in at least one collaborative initiative that advances this goal, reporting annually on activities, and contributing funds to sustain the compact. The compact helps Georgia businesses activate and scale those solutions and to provide a forum for addressing “beyond carbon” aspects including equity, public health, environmental quality and economic opportunity.

Drawdown Georgia was born from a multi-university research project whose initial phase of work was completed in December 2020. This research was funded by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation and led by Georgia Tech, with researchers from Emory University, Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. The project identified and evaluated the 20 highest-impact solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Georgia over the next decade while also incorporating the “beyond carbon” dimensions. Research continues on these solutions—in the creation of a statewide dashboard and in support of solution activation.
