50% of Carnival Cruise Line Fleet to Sail by October

Carnival Cruise Line is looking to bring back more ships. By October, the cruise line is looking to get half of its fleet back in action. Three of the Carnival Cruise Line fleet will resume by September and another four by October. This brings a total of 15 ships or equivalent to half of the entire Carnival Cruise Line fleet.

Carnival is looking to run vaccinated cruises at least until October. This means that it is going to require at least a 95% vaccination rate on its passengers and crew members, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

Will Allow Limited Number of Unvaccinated Guests

Carnival will provide a limited number of slots for unvaccinated passengers. This includes children under 12 years old. However, this doesn’t go with an extra cost. Each unvaccinated guest will be charged an additional $150 to cover the costs of testing, and health and safety screenings.

If someone who is unvaccinated will come in contact with someone who tested positive, they will be required to take additional testing and even have to quarantine. Unvaccinated passengers from both Texas and Florida will have to get travel insurance.

New Orleans, Baltimore, And Galveston By September

Carnival Glory will be sailing from New Orleans by September 5 while Carnival Pride will be from Baltimore on September 12. And lastly, Carnival Dream will be sailing from Galveston on September 19.

There will be more ships by October as Carnival Conquest sails on October 8 and Carnival Freedom on October 9. Both ships are coming from Miami. Carnival Elation will be sailing by October 11 from Port Canaveral, and Carnival Sensation will be sailing by October 21 from Mobile.

Carnival President Christine Duffy said that “By the end of July, we will have five ships in our restart plan”. She added that “we are seeing a great combination of strong demand and strong guest satisfaction scores tie to a positive guest experience on board”.
