Uber Will Now Let You Automate Your Airport Ride

Uber announced its new features on Wednesday. Included in the update is Uber Reserve. This feature will allow passengers to automate their airport rides. It automatically orders an Uber once your flight lands.

So how does it work? After booking your flight, you can then reserve your ride up to 30 days in advance. From here, Uber will automate your airport ride according to the flight information that you’ve provided in their system.

This is a good thing not only for the passenger but also for the driver. Uber will automatically adjust the reservation based on the flight information. This means that the driver won’t be early or delayed. However, even if the request will be made by the app when you land, it is only going to pick you up once you are ready. Users will have the option to get picked up either in 20 minutes, 10 minutes, or as soon as possible.

The “Ready When You Are” feature of the app will allow the passenger to choose a pickup time that depends on how long they think they can get off the flight and get their luggage from the carousel.

To enjoy the new features, you will also have to get a more expensive Uber Black or Uber Black SUV. It typically costs around 1.5 times the regular UberXL. However, it can even go higher depending on different variables.

Uber’s Ready When You Are

The Ready When You Are feature will be tested on six airports. The six airports include Nashville (BNA), New Orleans (MSY), Portland (PDX), Philadelphia (PHL), Seattle (SEA), and Toronto (YYZ). Aside from the limited airports, the feature is only available on Android so far. iOS users will have to wait until November to enjoy this feature according to Uber.

Also, Uber is going to give users a free 60-minute wait time. This means that you will not be charged extra in case your driver will wait for an extra hour. The driver will wait for the passenger at the curbside for pick up. The strategic update was made when travel demand is coming back as more people feel confident to travel again.
