  • Picture of TJS News TJS News

Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico announced Wednesday the airlines will launch a new service between Detroit and Queretaro, Mexico.

Starting September 17, Aeromexico will operate four flights between Detroit and Queretaro every Monday, Thursday and Fridays. The route will be served with Embraer 190 aircraft that carry 99 passenger, including 11 in Clase Premier, Aeromexico’s Business Class Cabin.

The new service between the United States and Mexico is the 13th route launched under the Joint Cooperation Agreement between the airlines. The flights between Detroit and Queretaro will help connect international travelers to other major U.S. cities, including Chicago, Cleveland, Grand Rapids and Milwaukee.

“Connectivity is crucial to a tourist destination like Queretaro,” Secretary of Tourism of the State of Queretaro, Hugo Burgos Garcia, said in a statement. “Due to its geographic location, our state is strategically close to the country’s main ports and cities.”

“Queretaro has been strengthening its international connectivity in recent years and today, Aeromexico indisputably contributes as it bets on Queretaro once again, and its potential for tourism, industry and business, with this new flight that unites us with Detroit, a major hub for travelers from across the globe,” Garcia continued. “Our state thus strengthens its presence in our main international tourist market, the United States.”

The city of Queretaro offers travelers a unique mix of history and modernity, with the city’s historic center considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and the National Competitiveness Institute ranking the destination No. 1 in economic innovation in Mexico.

“At Aeromexico, we strive not only to connect these two destinations and boost the region’s industrial corridor, but also to promote the tourist and cultural potential offered by both cities,” Aeromexico senior vice president Paul Verhagen said in a statement. “We are confident that our passengers will be able to enjoy both destinations to their fullest.”
