Delta Air Lines debuted its first flight with its new Airbus A220 planes Thursday morning, marking a significant shift in the industry by offering wider seats and more seat-back screens.

Passengers will be able to enjoy state-of-the-art seat-back screens and 2Ku Wi-Fi.

In addition to the planes boasting some of the widest seats of any narrowbody aircraft in the industry at 18.6 inches, the A220 fleet will be equipped with high-capacity overhead bins, extra-large windows and full-spectrum LED ambient lighting.
With Thursday’s flight, Delta became the first airline in the United States to debut the A220, and is using the new planes to attract higher-paying business customers by operating them on popular routes to popular destinations such as New York, Boston and Dallas.
The A220 will be built with a lighter composite material than the previous Bombardier’s C-Series planes and will have new engines that are 20 percent more fuel efficient. In addition, every seat will have a window, including a window in each restroom.
Delta took delivery of its first A220 in October 2018, and recently announced an order for 15 additional A220s, extending its order book to 90 total aircraft.
