Soccer fans might want to book a flight with IcelandAir—and then plan to stopover.
The airline has launched a new series of experiences designed to support and promote Iceland’s soccer team—the smallest national team to ever compete at the FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Sochi, Russia, in July of this year.
Team Iceland Stopover is a selection of 90-minute, soccer-inspired experiences that have been curated by Iceland’s national team and included in the popular Icelandair Stopover flight ticket.
The Support Like an Icelander experience invites lucky fans to attend either a National Men’s or Women’s team match and learn to cheer like an Icelander, some of the most passionate soccer fans in the world.
If you prefer to “Relax Like a Pro,” midfielder Birkir Bjarnason invites passengers to experience one of his favorite geothermal areas at Laugarvatn Fontana. Here, passengers can unwind and enjoy the baths, sauna and swim in the lake.
Visitors can also “Train the Icelandic Way.” International female star Dagny Brynjarsdottir encourages passengers to participate in a unique training session featuring stunning views of Iceland’s striking terrain.
Got kids? Bring them along on the “Footballing Family” experience. Football in Iceland is a family affair and the legendary Breidablik Academy will host young travelers to participate in a special 90-minute training session.
The Team Iceland Stopover will be available for trans-Atlantic passengers to enjoy through June 2018. Icelandair’s popular Stopover Program allows travelers to enjoy a free stop in Reykjavik for up to seven nights at no additional airfare.
