A video has gone viral of airline-pilot-pays-an-emotional-tribute-to-teacher-who-was-a-passenger-on-the-flight” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow”>Turkish Airlines pilot Mithat Okhan Onan thanking a former teacher who happened to be on the same flight he was piloting.
The video is heartwarming, as it is clear that the teacher is overwhelmed with emotion at the gratitude and tribute from Onan.
The teacher wipes away tears as the cabin crew arrives at his seat with a bouquet of flowers.
They present him with the flowers and then each offers him a traditional Turkish greeting called “hand-kissing,” where they kiss the teacher’s hand and then draw his hand to their foreheads. This custom is not used too often in modern-day Turkish society but is meant as a sign of utmost respect.
