An attendant asked several passengers which one of them owned a bag that was too large to fit in the overhead compartment, and Tremblay turned to her boyfriend and reportedly said, “There’s a bomb in it.”

A Broward Sheriff’s arrest report said the woman’s boyfriend warned her not to make such jokes or she would be kicked off the plane. The attendant heard the conversation and reported the incident to the captain.
As a result, the captain called for all of the passengers to deplane and Terminal 2 of the Florida airport was closed while police sent in the bomb squad to examine the luggage. Officers found the bag did not contain any explosives.
When being questioned by the police, Tremblay gave conflicting accounts of the incident and apologized. She was charged on suspicion of “making a false report of a bomb, explosive, weapon of mass destruction.”
On Wednesday in court, Tremblay’s lawyer said, “I do understand that in the times we’re living in, this was basically a horrible joke gone wrong, and I do believe Ms. Tremblay realizes that now.”
