Rent a Car for a Weekend Getaway

  • Picture of TJS News TJS News

Long-haul travel can sometimes leave road warriors wiped out at the end, but short, weekend getaways can be a less stressful to escape the rat race.

Escaping the day-to-day going and seeing something new reinvigorates the spirit—and you don’t have to have a car because Enterprise Rent-a-Car’s special weekend rates make getting out of the city and away from it all fast and easy.

Whether travelers want a dose of culture, a remote retreat or a bucolic drive in the countryside, slipping away for a few days is an ideal way to recharge the body’s batteries.

For a short weekend road trip from New York, head to the southern tip of the Jersey Shore to Cape May. Travelers will discover charming Victorian-era homes, pedestrian-friendly streets, shopping and more. Stop in to see the Cape May Lighthouse, visit the zoo or take a self-guided walk through the historic district.

From Los Angeles, Angelenos can drive north to Santa Barbara where beautiful beaches, luxury hotels, art galleries, wine tasting and fine dining await. There are many activities in the area such as a visit to the zoo, the beautiful gardens of Lotusland and the city’s Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail. Reaching the seaside city by car is easy and approximately a two-hour drive from Los Angeles.

Chicagoans can drive to Lake Geneva, a charming Victorian town in the southwestern corner of Wisconsin famous for its beaches, piers, summer homes and a wide variety of activities for visitors. It’s just under two hours away from the Windy City by car.

Head to Islamorada to escape for a long weekend from Miami. Get away to stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkeling or gorge on calamari and grouper. The drive is short, just under two hours from Miami.

In Dallas, Texas, wine country awaits. It’s a longer drive, about four hours, but still ideal for a long weekend away. Four times a year there are wine country events where visitors can meet and greet winemakers, sample new varietals, listen to music and sample cuisine.

Weekend special rates are good for rentals from Friday to Monday at participating neighborhood locations.
