Norwegian Cruise Line welcomes the latest addition to its Breakaway Plus-class fleet this year. The 4,000-passenger Norwegian Encore debuts in Miami in November. Excitement is already mounting, for good reason.
For one thing, the ship’s launch will coincide with the opening of the line’s sleek new Port Miami terminal. Passengers will enjoy a streamlined, high-tech check-in before boarding the ship. And, she’s bound to make a distinctive first impression. Adorning her hull is an abstract design by the noted Spanish artist Eduardo Arranz-Bravo.
Norwegian Encore is the fourth and final vessel in the line’s Breakaway Plus class. She’s added some extra dazzle to the splashy elements that made her predecessors a hit. Topping the list is the largest go-kart track at sea. At 1,150 feet long, it spans two decks and extends in more than 12 feet off the sides of the ship in places.

While the go-kart feature has already appeared on Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss, the Encore’s version adds some twists and turns. Spectators can participate via a covered area that allows them to target racers with a laser, giving them a speed boost.
The ship features the popular open-air laser tag arena found aboard other Breakaway-Pluss ships. The Encore’s version is themed around the lost city of Atlantis. An impressive water park includes two towering water slides. Daredevils will appreciate the figure-eight slide that shoots riders over the side of the ship in clear tubes.
Another center for onboard fun is the Galaxy Pavilion, which first debuted on Norwegian Joy. The 10,000-square-foot interactive entertainment venue features virtual reality, an escape room and other high-tech attractions.
Those in search of more sedate pursuits will enjoy the two-story Observation Lounge, offering 180-degree views. The ship also features 20 dining options, including several located on a boardwalk.
Entertainment aboard Norwegian Encore features an added kick from a resident production of “Kinky Boots.” The multiple Tony Award-winning (including Best Musical of 2014) show features original songs by Cyndi Lauper.
“We are very excited to be the first to feature this award-winning musical at sea,” said Norwegian Cruise Line President and CEO Andy Stuart.
In addition to “Kinky Boots,” entertainment options aboard Encore include “The Choir of Man.” The show (also running on Norwegian Escape) features music and dance. “Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical,” joins the Encore as a cocktail and theater show also found on Norwegian Bliss. And, a Beatles cover band will perform in The Cavern Club.
Norwegian Encore will operate seven-night Caribbean voyages from Miami from Nov. 17, 2019, to April 12, 2020. She then repositions to New York for a series of seven-night voyages to Bermuda.
