A Royal Caribbean cruise ship in drydock in The Bahamas was damaged, and eight people were injured Monday when a crane fell into the side of the vessel.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Oasis of the Seas was out of service with no passengers on board when a construction crane on the pier tipped over and smashed into the stern of the ship on the starboard side.
Officials from Royal Caribbean revealed that eight people working at the Grand Bahama Shipyard were injured when the crane fell, but emergency personnel said none of them were deemed life-threatening.
A video of the crane still leaning on the Oasis of the Seas was shared on YouTube:
“We are aware of damage to the dock structure and to construction cranes,” Royal Caribbean spokesperson Melissa Charbonneau told the Orlando Sentinel. “We are assessing damage to the ship.”
