OpenTable Loyalty Members Can Now Redeem Points on Hotel Bookings

  • Picture of TJS News TJS News

Travel hacking, or the process of using points and miles to book free travel, is expanding now that OpenTable is allowing users to use their Dining Points to save on hotel stays with Kayak.

OpenTable users who make and show up for reservations through the company’s restaurant reservation service earn Dining Points. Previously, these points were redeemable for restaurant gift cards, but now OpenTable is expanding their program to include hotels, too.

MORE Entertainment

It takes 2,000 OpenTable Dining Points to take advantage of the Kayak offer. Diners can save anywhere from $20 to $200 at 400,000 hotels bookable through Kayak.

All OpenTable users have to do is visit opentable.kayak.com, log in, and start saving.

“OpenTable diners are avid travelers, so we are excited to offer a Dining Reward that will help them save on their next trip,” Steve Hafner, CEO of Kayak, said in a statement.

“Kayak and OpenTable are both Booking Holdings’ brands and creating shared value for our respective users — diners that love to travel and travelers that need to eat — is a priority.”

Apparently, the Kayak partnership won’t be the only exciting way that OpenTable users can use their Dining Points this year.

“This will be the first of several additional ways that OpenTable users will be able to redeem their Dining Points,” said Joseph Essas, Chief Technology Officer, OpenTable. “We’re looking forward to rolling out more options in the near future to further enhance the Dining Rewards program.”

If you want to use Dining Points on hotel stays as quickly as possible, look for restaurants that advertise “additional points” or those that provide 1,000 points for a single reservation.

The quicker you reserve on OpenTable, the quicker you’ll be saving money on a Kayak hotel.
