Condor also has new service to Frankfurt from New Orleans, Pittsburgh, San Diego and San Francisco and the airline offers connections to some of Europe’s most popular destinations, including Prague, Venice, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Barcelona and more.

For those looking for some summer travel inspiration, Germany offers up a wealth of opportunities and is an ideal hub for exploring Europe as a whole.

River Cruising

Frankfurt is central to European river travel in the summer—especially for those sailing along the Danube River.

Cruises along the river often begin in Nuremberg or Vilshofen, Germany, and travel downstream through Austria and Slovakia, winding up in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

Along the way, travelers see charming villages including the Austrian town of Durnstein; Passau, Germany, known as the “City of Three Rivers;” and Vienna, the “City of Music.”

Outdoor Adventure

The Bavarian Alps are an ideal adventure destination for hikers, mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts in the summer months.

Zugspitze is Germany’s highest peak and can be reached on a two-day trek (travelers can also reach the peak by cable car). Visitors can also enjoy hiking to the Partnachklamm Gorge or a walking to Hollentalklamm (Hell Valley Gorge) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Other famous sights in the Bavarian Alps include Hitler’s notorious Eagle’s Nest retreat and Neuschwanstein, one of Germany’s most famous castles.

Fairy Tale Road

Travelers looking for an ideal summer road trip, can drive along Germany’s Fairy Tale Road. Visitors can begin the journey that follows in the footsteps of the Brothers Grimm from Frankfurt and finishes in Bremen.

Along the way, travelers can take in Frankfurt’s major sights, including the Museum of Natural History and Goethe’s House before heading to the village of Steinau an der Strasse, where the Fairy Tale Road officially begins. Stops along the way include Marburg, Kassel, Bremen and more during the more than 350-mile journey.

Moselle Valley Wine Route

Wine enthusiasts can explore Germany’s Moselle Valley and combine the beauty of the country’s castles with wine tasting. Visitors can meet wine growers, overnight in a castle or float down the river, passing through a region crowded with vineyards and vast estates.

City Break

Germany’s metropolitan hubs make travel to the country ideal for those looking for a sophisticated city break. An ideal example is the country’s capital of cool, Berlin.

Stop in at the Brandenburg Gate, enjoy the nightlife at Hackescher Markt, view famous artwork at Museum Island, go to the zoo and don’t forget to purchase a Berlin Welcome Card—the city’s ticket to tourism that includes more than 200 sights and attractions.
