An 11-month-old American baby died after his flight landed in India Wednesday morning.
According to NBC News, the baby boy, identified as Arnav Varma, was on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Hyderabad when the child’s family notified airport employees that he had fallen ill following the 3.5-hour journey.
When the plane landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and his family entered the facility, they reported his breathing problems to workers and the child was transported to the Apollo Medical Center in Hyderabad where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 2:29 a.m. local time.
The death certificate noted the child had a red mark on his forehead when his body was brought to the hospital. The document also revealed the child was from New Jersey and his father was from Hyderabad.
“We are aware of the very sad news that a young child passed away at Hyderabad International Airport this morning,” a Qatar Airways spokesperson told Channel News Asia. “Our heartfelt sympathy and thoughts are with the affected family.”
