Baby Dies In Passenger’s Arms On AirAsia Flight

A two-month-old baby died on an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Perth. The incident occurred on Monday on AirAsia Flight D7236. The child died in the arms of another passenger, who had offered to hold and comfort the baby. AirAsia has publicly offered its thoughts to the infant’s family.

An infant died on-board an AirAsia flight from Malaysia to Perth on Monday morning, reports The Guardian. The incident took place on AirAsia Flight D7236 which was traveling from Kuala Lumpur to the western Australian city. The child, a two-month-old girl named Farah, was traveling with her parents at the time of her death.

Passenger Nadia Parenzee wrote of the incident in a Facebook post, excerpts of which have been quoted by the outlet. She said that she was asked by members of the flight’s cabin crew for assistance in holding and comforting the child, who had been restless from the time of the plane’s departure from Kuala Lumpur.

Describing what had happened, Parenzee said, “I offered the parents and the staff some assistance as I could see that the new parents were stressed. As I closed my eyes to catch some sleep the AirAsia hostess tapped me on the shoulder to help her. The parents offered the baby to me with desperation in their eyes I took her in my arms …”.

“Then baby Farah took her last breath and went limp. I immediately knew something was horribly wrong and shouted out to the passengers to see if there were any doctors on board,” Parenzee said.

A number of attempts were then made to revive the baby, but these proved to be unsuccessful. Local police and paramedics were on hand as the plane landed at Perth.

A spokesperson for the carrier told the outlet, “The safety and well-being of our guests is always our number one priority, and in accordance with procedure, the flight crew requested medical assistance on landing. Our thoughts are with the infant and family involved.”
