Belize: No Covid19 Tests Fully Vaccinated Travelers

Belize is among the first countries to allow fully vaccinated travelers to visit minus the COVID19 test. Instead, the fully vaccinated traveler will only have to present a card as proof of his or her vaccination.

According to their protocol, full inoculation should be completed at least two weeks before arriving in Belize.  Travelers will also need to download the Belize Health App and put all their info 72 hours before arriving in the country.

According to Belize Tourism Board, the officials decided to ease the restriction on travelers because of their reduced daily new cases. Belize in the past few weeks controlled the transmission of the COVID19 virus. There are less than 100 active cases in the country with the numbers decreasing consistently.

Unvaccinated travelers must show a negative COVID19 test. Both PCR and rapid antigen test results are accepted. PCR test is valid within 96 hours of travel. On the other hand, a rapid antigen test is valid 48 hours before arriving in Belize.

If you don’t have a COVID19 test result, you can get tested at the airport. The test costs $50 and is only payable in cash. If you tested positive, you will be placed under a 14-day quarantine.

Belize is also providing tests for travelers flying out of the country. This makes it easy for people to return to a country that requires a negative COVID19 test.

Belize Reopened Last October

Belize reopened its borders to tourists in October last year. The island initially planned to reopen in August. Based o their protocol, travelers will use an approved mode of transportation to get to their hotel. In addition to this, Belize reduced the number of travelers in tour groups. Mask-wearing is required at all times.

Creative Strategies to Attract Travelers

The airline industry is urging the CDC to allow fully vaccinated individuals to travel again in the US. However, with just 10% of Americans vaccinated, the agency hasn’t released a new travel guideline. Instead, CDC discourages traveling even for fully vaccinated Americans.

Travel destinations are looking for creative strategies to get people to travel again. With more than 325 million vaccine doses administered worldwide, we may be already at the tail end of the pandemic.
