Department of Transportation Announces New In-Flight Sexual Misconduct Task Force

The United States Department of Transportation announced Thursday it has created an in-flight sexual misconduct task force.

According to the official website of the DOT, Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced the new sexual misconduct task force will be part of the larger Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee.

The new task force was instituted as part of the new Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee guidelines which were outlined in the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2018.

“The Task Force will review current practices, protocols, and requirements of U.S. airlines in responding to and reporting allegations of sexual misconduct by passengers on board aircraft,” the DOT said in a statement.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed the airlines/how-faa-reauthorization-act-impacts-travelers.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow”>FAA act into law in October.

The first meeting of the Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee will take place on January 16, 2019, and members of the sexual misconduct task force will be announced then.
