EasyJet Passenger Tries to Open Door Mid-Flight

An EasyJet passenger had to be subdued on Wednesday after he tried to open an emergency exit while the plane was in mid-flight.

Passenger Richard Conyard told The Sun, “He was in the toilet for about a minute. When he came out he went towards the emergency exit and grabbed the handle and tried to open the door.”

He added, “One of the crew screamed at him to stop and other passengers started shouting and crying. Everyone was understandably very scared.”

The three-hour flight from London to Pisa turned chaotic as the passengers and cabin crew subdued the man and strapped him into a seat until the plane landed and airlines/passengers-arrested-for-trying-to-open-plane-door-during-delay.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>police took him into custody.

Conyard said, “A couple of guys went to help. I joined them. We bundled him into a seat. Some women nearby were asked to swap seats so all these burly blokes could sit around him and box him in.”

“He just sat there until we landed. We had to stay in our seats until police arrived.”

The pilot “requested police to meet the aircraft on arrival as a passenger made an airlines/passengers-prevent-woman-from-opening-plane-door.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>attempt to open one of the cabin doors during the descent. While it would not have been possible to open the door due to the cabin pressurization, the crew responded quickly to ensure the passenger remained seated until landing,” said airline-partner.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>EasyJet in a statement.
