Netflix is Bringing Free Food to Hungry Travelers This Thanksgiving

The smartest of travelers bring their own food when embarking on a Thanksgiving flight, in order to avoid the airport crowds and the inflated prices.

But lucky travelers in New York and Chicago won’t have to go to the trouble of packing a sandwich.

MORE Airlines & Airports

That’s because Netflix, in an effort to advertise its new show “The Final Table” has decided to bring free food to ravenous flyers at JFK airport in New York and Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, according to Travel + Leisure.

Before you roll your eyes while imagining some paltry boxes of stale cookies or bags of salt-laden chips, take a moment to read on.

The food being rolled out by Netflix will represent meals from nine countries – Mexico, Spain, the UK, Brazil, India, United States, Italy, France, and Japan. Not bad right?

For those not entirely familiar with the show’s tie to all of these countries – “The Final Table” is a global cooking competition that was created to showcase the togetherness food can bring.

With the show’s global roots in mind, the snacks Netflix will be offering to travelers will include tastes of paella (yes, please!) and even a full English breakfast complete with pork scratchings, spiced black bean Brazil nuts, Thanksgiving leftover bread pudding, sundried tomato fusilli, nori-crusted peanuts, and more.

The experience will not end merely with a full belly.

Netflix will also be setting up a customized screen where travelers can select the country they wish to “travel to” on their food journey. The screen will then provide more information about the country, its food, and the chefs from that country that will be featured on the new Netflix show. If you have time to hang out a little longer, there’s also a short clip from an episode of The Final Table.

Netflix aims to please, so they will also send you off with a box filled with an international gourmet snack and even information about the ingredients used to make the tasty morsel in question.

This special experience will only be available at JFK and O’Hare from Wednesday, November 21 through Sunday, November 25.

Sigh. If only Netflix visited airports everywhere, all year long.
