Power Outage at Reagan National Airport Causes Flight Delays

The lights are back on at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington D.C. after the facility lost power Wednesday night.

According to Fox5DC.com, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesperson Andrew Trull said several flights in and out of the airport were delayed after two power feeds to the facility shut down, causing a complete outage.

The electricity provider, Dominion Energy, said the airport had several backup generators which were turned on to provide power to terminals and all essential services. Airport officials worked with engineers to identify the problem and fix it as soon as possible.

The official Twitter account of Reagan National Airport said power was fully restored and all systems were back to normal after 11 p.m. ET. The airport acknowledged that some flights were delayed due to the electrical outage:
