In a new video by Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Richard Fain, he appealed to travel advisors to start selling cruises again. According to Fain, it is time to focus on how to come out of the pandemic.
Fain said that the surge in interest in cruises came more from the internet than from travel advisors. He appealed to travel advisors saying “we need you to reach our full potential.” He added “there still will be many who prefer to buy online, and the internet does make that very easy”.
However, “It was the personal contact with travel advisors that built up the knowledge and awareness (of cruising) in the first place”. Fain continued saying that “we need you and we need your personal touch”.
For the Royal Caribbean CEO, even if the pandemic isn’t over, COVID19 is better understood compared to last year. Fain said that “It will continue to produce variants that vex us, but now we understand the main drivers”. He added that “We know how to control the disease”.
He even said that cruise ships have a relative advantage over land-based attractions. People who board cruise ships are mostly vaccinated plus there are strict safety protocols such as testing. Fain said as a result, we can make ships safer than shore-based alternatives.
