As Singapore Airlines (SIA) prepares to launch the world’s longest flight on October 11, the carrier has announced a menu for the flight intended to reduce jetlag and promote rest and relaxation.
The wellness cuisine was developed by SIA and integrative wellness brand Canyon Ranch to help travelers cope with the nonstop flights between Singapore and the New York area that will last an astounding 18 hour and 45 minutes.
The partnership between SIA and Canyon Ranch will focus on cooking meals that ensure nutrition and hydration to make up for the lack of movement on such a long flight, designing sleep strategies for passengers and leading guided stretching exercises to promote relaxation.
MORE Airlines & Airports
While a full menu hasn’t been released, some of the meal and dessert options include prawn ceviche, seared chicken, zucchini pappardelle, lemon angel food cake and more.
“Singapore Airlines is firmly committed to continually elevating our customers’ experience to be the number one in the industry,” Singapore senior vice president Yeoh Phee Teik said. “Our new partnership with Canyon Ranch builds on that commitment, as well as our strong legacy of service, tapping into their deep expertise and science-based recommendations and strategies to deliver an even more comfortable journey for our customers.”
SIA officials also announced the wellness program will extend to nonstop services from Singapore to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The flights to Los Angeles International Airport launch November 2 and service to San Francisco International Airport will debut by the end of 2018.
When it launches in October, the world’s longest flights between Singapore Changi Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport will utilize the Airbus A350-900ULR, which will have a two-class layout, 67 Business Class seats and 94 Premium Economy Class seats.
