The Virginia Women in Wine Trail is an annual event celebrating women’s contributions to Virginia’s wine industry, held during Women’s History Month from March 14 to 31. Organized by Virginia Women in Wine, it features over 45 women-owned or women-centered wineries and vineyards across regions like Central Virginia, Chesapeake Bay, Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Southern Virginia, and the Shenandoah Valley. Attendees can enjoy special activities such as “Female Favorites Flights,” vineyard tours, blending workshops, and behind-the-scenes talks. Participants can collect Trail Cards at each location for a chance to win prizes at the Trailblazer Bash, the event’s culmination on March 29 at Bluemont Vineyards, which includes wine tastings, food, music, and the announcement of the Trailblazer Awards. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with the women shaping Virginia’s wine culture.
Nikki Noya traveled to the event to learn more about women in the wine-making business and hear some of their stories.
