American Airlines‘ scheduling kerfuffle has been all over the news. First, a scheduling glitch led to all of their pilots being scheduled off for Christmas week. AA initially offered the pilots time and a half to come back to work, but the Allied Pilots Association (APA) leaders said, which had already been lobbying for higher holiday pay, rejected the initial offer.
American Airlines seemed unwilling to pay more, the APA seemed unwilling to budge and over 15,000 flights were in danger of going un-piloted during the busiest flying season.
But now, the news is that the holiday flights were saved — when American Airlines agreed to pay pilots 200% of their usual pay to fly during the holidays. Under this new agreement, no flights will go unpiloted and everyone can fly American Airlines for the holidays.
