Cheap Argentina Flights Are Coming

Get ready, travelers. Cheap flights to Argentina from the US are about to be headed our way.

Starting next year, Norwegian Air will make a lot of dreams come true by offering low-cost flights to South America. The airline just received authorization to launch 152 new routes, and also received a 15-year authorization from Argentina’s Ministry of Transportation to operate international flights to the country.

So far, the cost of the flights is unknown. But travelers can count on 73 new South American destinations with 80 more international destinations coming throughout 2018. Some example routes include Los Angeles to Buenos Aires and New York to Istanbul. Other cities of interest include Dallas, Honolulu, and Johannesburg, South Africa, and Mendoza and Cordoba in Argentina.

“We want to connect Argentina with the world and, at the same time, bring the world closer to Argentina,” Norwegian’s head of operations in Argentina Ole Christian Melhus said in a statement reported by Travel+Leisure.

In the next five to 12 years, Norwegian plans to have more than 60 planes available for flights to and from Argentina, using the Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 787-Dreamliner. Broadening operations to Argentina and across the world is part of a $4.3 billion investment on Norwegian’s part to increase operations, mostly focusing on South America. It’s a welcome change from the currently expensive flights controlled by Argentina’s state-run airline, Aerolineas Argentinas, which has a monopoly on air travel in the country at the moment due to minimal low-cost operators running flights to the country.

Another low-cost carrier, budget airline FlyBondi, recently received approval to start flying to Argentina as well and expects to begin those flights by the end of the year.
