Delta Flash Sale: U.S. to Caribbean, Central America for 16,000 SkyMiles (Or Lower)

Delta Air Lines is offering SkyMiles flyers based in the 48 contiguous U.S. states special pricing on award flights to Central America and the Caribbean for spring travel.

Redemptions start at 16,000 miles round-trip. As you know, Delta does not publish award charts, but the carrier still prices out awards at internally known redemption rates. A typical round-trip award from the U.S. to either region requires 35,000 Delta SkyMiles, so this truly is a sale.

To take advantage of the low mileage costs, you must book your flight by 11:59 p.m. EST on Jan. 10 and travel between April 8 and June 1. Tickets must be purchased at Delta.com.

Caribbean airports included in the promo are ANU, AUA, BDA, BON, ELH, FPO, GCM, GGT, GND, KIN, MBJ, NAS, PLS, PUJ, SJU, SKB, STT, STX, SXM, UVF. Central American airports are BZE, GUA, MGA, PTY, RTB, SAL, SAP, TGU.

Blackout dates apply to the following dates/destinations:

  • Atlanta to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos: May 21 to June 1
  • Providentiales, Turks and Caicos, to Atlanta: May 25 to June 1

Although the terms of this promo state that award flights start at 16,000 miles, which is already a great redemption rate, there are even better deals to be had. For example, I’ve found this trip from Salt Lake City to Turks and Caicos with a stop in each direction for 14,000 SkyMiles + $98. When paying cash, these flights go for about $550 per seat.

It gets even better! This round-trip flight from New York City to Grand Cayman will set you back just 9,000 SkyMiles + $96. Cash rates hover around $400 for these flights, so I’d say you’re getting a great deal for your miles, but you do have to travel mid-week to get these rates.

Got Central America on your mind? This Delta flash sale has got you covered as well. Check out these flights from Los Angeles to Guatemala City, Guatemala. Just 14,000 SkyMiles + $55 will get you there and back on non-stop flights, but again, you’d have to travel in the middle of the week. The redemption rates go up to 16,500 miles on the weekends, but that’s still significantly lower than regular redemption rates or cash rates of about $530.

This month’s delta flash sale appeases both beach lovers and adventure seekers, but you don’t have much time to think. The sale ends on Jan. 10 at midnight, so make sure to book your trip before then to take advantage of the discounted award pricing.
