Icelandair Adds Another North American Destination, Revives Two More

Icelandair is adding more North American destinations to its list. The carrier announced a new seasonal route from its hub in Reykjavik, Iceland, to Kansas City, Mo., and a revival of two previously discontinued routes to Baltimore and San Francisco.

“The time is right for Icelandair to return to Baltimore and San Francisco,” Icelandair CEO Björgólfur Jóhannsson said in a press release. “Icelandair has been in operation for over 80 years, and these cities have played an important role in that history. The third addition to our network marks the first time in its history that Icelandair will offer non-stop flights to and from the heart of America.”

Operations to these U.S. markets will begin in late May and in early June. The route to Kansas City International Airport is scheduled to begin May 25 with three weekly flights. Service to Baltimore-Washington International Airport and to San Francisco International Airport will resume June 1 with four flights per week. Both routes will feature Boeing aircraft with three-class configuration: economy, economy comfort and business class.

In addition to the three aforementioned U.S. destinations, Icelandair will begin service to Cleveland on May 16 and to Dallas on May 30, as announced back in the summer.

Other U.S. cities that Icelandair serves are Boston; Chicago; Denver; Minneapolis; New York City; Newark, N.J.; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; Tampa, Fla.; and Washington.

Icelandair offers a fantastic routing choice to its flyers. Travelers can book a stopover in Reykjavik for up to seven days en route to another European destination at no additional cost. The Land of Fire and Ice has been a hot destination in the recent years, and stopping over is one of the best ways to explore the world, considering the added value it can bring to a vacation.
