Flying Blue, Air France and KLM’s frequent-flyer program, has released new Promo Awards, and if you live in New York City or select Canadian cities, you can save on award travel to Europe between February and March.
Promo Awards allow Flying Blue members to save up to 50 percent when booking certain routes with miles. This particular promotion offers a 25-percent discount on business-class flights to and from Europe. Only four cities are on the list this time: New York City; Calgary, Alta.; Edmonton, Alta.; and Vancouver, B.C.
Travel must be booked by Dec. 12. Please note that travel dates vary for each destination. Round-trip rates are as follows (or half the cost for one-way flights).
To qualify for the mileage discount, flights must be booked on Air France or KLM websites, and you must fly with one of these airlines. None of the other SkyTeam airlines qualify for this promo. Availability is limited, and carrier-imposed surcharges and security taxes apply, which can be somewhat high when traveling with either carrier. The bookings cannot be changed or canceled for a full refund.
One of the greatest things about Flying Blue is that points from all major transferrable point programs— American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou Points—can be pooled together, which offers all kinds of earning opportunities. And if you’re low on points in one program, you can always top off your Flying Blue balance with points from another flexible program to have enough miles for one of these Promo Awards.
