SPG and Uber Have Ended Their Partnership

Sadly, Starwood and Uber have decided not to continue their partnership.

Through December 17, 2017, you will still be able to earn additional SPG points for your Uber rides, but after that date it will no longer be possible.

As the partnership currently stands, SPG members can earn one Starpoint per two dollars spent on Uber rides. If you have a stay at a Starwood hotel, you can earn 2 Starpoints per dollar spent on Uber during your stay. However, if you have a stay that overlaps the December 17th end date of the partnership, you will need to check in before 11:59 PM ET in order to earn bonus points.

It’s not clear why Starwood and Uber have decided not to continue this partnership. It could have something to do with the merger between Starwood and Marriott, but no statement has been given about why this change is taking place. This announcement also comes along with the announcement of Uber’s new credit card, so that could have some impact as well.

I personally won’t miss this partnership too much, but I’m sure there are people out there who will.
