Swan Hellenic Celebrates NYE in the Antarctic

Friday, December 31, 2021, marked an exciting day for the discovery cruiser leader, Swan Hellenic. Today, they announced the NYE maiden voyage of their expedition cruise of the Antarctic; SH Minerva departed their port in Ushuaia, Argentina. Swan Hellenic is an established, well-respected brand with over seven decades of expertise in undiscovered destinations. They endeavor to give passengers a luxury experience and take them to places left off of the tour brochures. They exist to provide unforgettable moments in extraordinary locations and remote landmarks.

Who is Swan Hellenic?

Swan Hellenic is a British cruise line specializing in expedition tours of historical or cultural significance. Their exciting voyages combine the best technology with stylish and luxurious interiors using the newest boutique expedition ships. But what’s more, is their attention to education centered around the destinations.

Exploratory travel is in their DNA; 70 years of exploration and education brought in the form of lecturers and guest speakers to satisfy curious minds. They bring specialist knowledge and insight into the scientific, geographic, and historical understanding of the regions that allow the customer to embrace the wondrous environments they are traveling entirely. The speakers are selected carefully to give stimulating and engaging talks on a wide range of itinerary-specific subjects.

Their cruises explore the Arctic, Antarctic, Russia, Southeast, South America, and North America.

The maiden NYE voyage of the Antarctic

Pushing off from Ushuaia, Argentina, otherwise known as the “End of the World,” guests will follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin and the HMS Beagle. Cruising is in the expert hands of industry veterans Captain Tuomo Leskinen and Hotel Director Philipp Reutener. SH Minerva’s first guests look forward to celebrating the New Year deep in the splendors of Antarctica. Here, they will soon be exploring the inspiring sights and wildlife of the Peninsula and milder Shetland Islands in the company of Expedition Leader Pablo Brandman, polar expert Steve Blamires, and renowned ornithologist Andy Bunten.

CEO Andrea Zito said, “We are immensely proud to have welcomed our first guests aboard this wonderful new ship to live unique new experiences that advance the revered Swan Hellenic tradition, taking them to see what others don’t in exceptional comfort and style.”

In the midst of a COVID-riddled industry struggling to find footing in the pandemic world, it is good to see positive news coming from a storied cruise line.
