The Best And Worst In-Flight Wi-Fi Ranked

When you are traveling, one of the most frustrating aspects can be connecting to WiFi. Availability can be hard to come by and it can be spotty, slow or expensive. It’s even more frustrating when you’re flying between business meetings and need to connect between events. Luckily, someone rated WiFi on all the domestic airlines so that you can start flying on airlines that meet your needs.

According to Get.com, Small Business Trends, an award-winning online publication for entrepreneurs, recently published a report of findings from HighSpeedInternet.com which ranked the top airlines for Wi-Fi on domestic flights. Factors that were taken into consideration include price, availability and speed data.

JetBlue came in first for overall. Speeds go up to 15Mbps and the service is available on most JetBlue flights. Better yet, in-flight WiFi is free for all passengers on domestic flights.

Southwest isn’t bad, offering WiFi on nearly 90 percent of flights. It’s not free but costs $8.00 for a full day and runs at 10Mbps.

On Delta, you can find WiFi on 98 percent of flights, at a high speed of 15Mbps. It’s not free but available through a $16.00 day pass that gives you unlimited Wi-Fi on Gogo-equipped Delta flights in North America.

All Virgin Atlantic flights have WiFi and speeds of up to 5Mbps. Depending on the aircraft, you can choose from a selection of WiFi packages.

Alaska Airlines has WiFi available on 75 percent of its flights for $16.00 a day but speeds are slow at 9.8Mbps.

The worst airlines for WiFi are Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines because they don’t offer the service at all.
