Air Canada Introduces A New Travel Class

Air Canada’s new comfort class fares unveiled this year offer a laundry list of premium perks including a complimentary drink, a free checked bag and early boarding for passengers in the economy cabin. Meanwhile the Canadian flag carrier’s premium economy product for select transpacific flights offers a bit more elbowroom in the bargain as well.

Air Canada’s latest premium economy offerings might make booking tickets a little more complicated, but the new fare class could help to give passengers in the economy cabin a few much needed premium class perks. Flyers looking for a little extra luxury in coach will, of course, need to pay a little extra when booking.

According to ” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>Air Canada, the new “comfort fares,” initially launched in April, allow economy class passengers select seats when booking, including first crack at reserving preferred, extra legroom and exit row seats not already reserved. Comfort class passenger also enjoy a complimentary onboard alcoholic beverage, one free checked-bag and early boarding.

In addition to adding a few creature comforts to the economy air travel experience, Air Canada’s comfort fares do away with some economy class and basic economy class restrictions. Passengers with Comfort Class tickets are permitted to purchase Maple Leaf Lounge day-passes, earn Aeroplan Miles (for a limited time with a 15 percent bonus) and even are even allowed list as a same-day standby passenger.

While domestic Comfort fares amount to economy travel with a few key perks, Air Canadas Comfort Class premium economy product on international flights is a premium cabin in its own right. On select international (primarily transpacific) flights, Comfort fare passengers are assigned wider, extra legroom seats, enjoy premium class meals (served on real china) with free drinks and personalized amenity kits. International premium economy passengers also get two free checked-bags as well as priority check-in and pre-boarding in the bargain.
