Once the plane landed safely, Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue battalion chief Michael Kane said two pilots and three flight attendants were taken to the Broward Health Medical Center as a precaution.
Several crew members had complained of an odor as the flight prepared for landing.
There were 137 passengers on board at the time of the incident, but none required any medical attention. Passengers at the Florida airport waiting to board the plane for a return flight were handed vouchers and booked on a later journey.
“I heard one of the security guys walk by, and he’s like, I need four wheelchairs. We need one ASAP,” passenger Andrew O’Donnell told Local 10. “They just sort of wheeled everybody off and they said they smelled an odor on the plane. And when that happened, they said that they obviously weren’t going to let anybody else on.”
