Delta Faces $2 Million Lawsuit for Allegedly Overserving Alcohol to Passenger Who Assaulted a Mother and Her Teen Daughter

On Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed against Delta Air Lines for $2 million after a teenager and her mother were allegedly assaulted during an international flight last year.

The alleged incident happened in July 2022 on a flight from JFK International Airport in New York to Athens, Greece. During the 9-hour trip, a woman and her 16-year-old daughter were sitting next to an intoxicated male passenger.

The mother was referred to by her initials “A.A.” while the 16-year-old was referred to by the initials “N.A.”.

According to the lawsuit, crew members of Delta are accused of negligence after they overserved alcohol to the intoxicated male passenger even after the mother and her 16-year-old daughter complained that the man was touching them without their consent.

Delta Overserved Alcohol

The man allegedly received at least 10 vodkas on ice before the plane even departed. According to the suit, the man placed his hand on the mother’s thigh and then “toward her vagina.” It also stated that “The Delta flight attendant did nothing to help and just said ‘be patient’ before walking away.”

“N.A. was frightened by his personal questions, tone and body language and turned her back to him to tell her mother that she was scared.”

The mother intervened and begged the man to leave the 16-year-old alone. However, instead of stopping, the man “began pulling and pushing” the mother’s arm.

The complaint stated that “A.A. told the Delta flight attendant that the intoxicated Delta passenger was very drunk and was making both her and her 16-year-old daughter feel unsafe by yelling, making obscene gestures, and touching her daughter inappropriately.”

When the man went to the lavatory, the mother spoke to the flight attendant. She requested the staff to stop serving the man alcohol. However, when the man returned to his seat, the man was seen with a glass of red wine with him.
