Flights were temporarily suspended at Scotland’s Glasgow Airport Tuesday morning after a security alert was issued for an arriving easyJet flight from London.
“There were reports of a security alert on an inbound easyJet flight from Gatwick,” an airport spokesman told Reuters. “The aircraft landed safely and without incident and was met by emergency services. Operations were temporarily suspended. The incident was stood down and we are now operational.”
The Airbus A319 landed shortly after 10 a.m. local time and was taken to an empty gate, according to passenger Jessica Omari.

EasyJet confirmed there were additional security checks in a statement. The BBC reported the incident was understood to be linked to a suspicious package.
“EasyJet can confirm that passengers on flight EZY883 from London Gatwick to Glasgow were delayed disembarking on arrival in Glasgow purely as a precaution due to additional security checks. The passengers have been disembarked and taken into the terminal,” the low-cost carrier said.
“The safety and security of its passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority and we would like to thank passengers for their understanding.”
