Fumes and Bad Odor Forces Spirit Flight to Land

On Friday, a Spirit Airlines flight took off from Los Angeles for Denver, but after complaints about “fumes in the cockpit and cabin,” it performed an emergency landing.

Spirit’s Airbus 321 took off from Los Angeles International Airport at 8:30 a.m. but returned to the airport at 9:50 a.m. after the crew airlines/alaska-airlines-flight-diverted-after-strange-odor-sickens-passengers-crew.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>smelled something strange. The FAA and LAFD are still unsure what caused the odor, but are investigating the incident.

A Spirit Airlines spokesperson said that the aircraft was “taken out of service while our maintenance team inspects it.”

Another Spirit flight was grounded a few weeks ago because of an “unknown odor,” and several people were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
