The vicious winds have been attacking the Tri-State area causing trees and power lines to fall. The gusts have reached up to 60 mph and caused traffic jams on Monday morning with outages from downed poles and wires.

Due to the high winds, flights are not taking off or arriving at LaGuardia Airport on time.

On Sunday evening, LaGuardia tweeted that the weather was causing flight disruptions. At 10 a.m. EST, La Guardia tweeted that arrivals were delayed by 2 hours and 58 minutes while departures were delayed 31 to 45 minutes. Airborne arrivals were reportedly delayed by 38 minutes.

According to FlightAware.com, LaGuardia is number two in the country currently for the highest number of cancellations. They’ve had 50 flights canceled and 157 more delayed, putting them in the top spot for delays.

The FAA notes that LaGuardia isn’t the only one to be affected by dangerous winds in the northeast this morning. Newark International is currently experiencing delays averaging 3 hours and 36 minutes. There is a one hour and eight-minute delay at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and a 1 hour and 48-minute delay at Philadelphia International Airport due to the weather and wind.

As for Washington Dulles International Airport, flights are not allowed to depart until at or after 11: 15 a.m. EST because of the weather.
