Primera Air, the low-fare Nordic airline, today announced the sale of routes to Madrid from the United States and Canada, continuing recent growth in the North American market. This new destination follows the airline’s recent addition of Brussels, Berlin and Frankfurt to its roster of transatlantic routes.

Flights to this major European hub will be operated from New York JFK Airport (JFK) and New Jersey Newark Airport (EWR), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Flights from New York and Boston will start at $149 one-way and from Toronto at CAD199 one-way, while the airline’s transatlantic flights to London and Paris will begin at $99 one-way.

Primera Air’s continued expansion into the U.S. and Canadian markets highlights a strong demand for affordable transatlantic flight options. They offer five different levels of travel packages so individuals can tailor their onboard experience to suit their needs and budget. Just this year, Primera has completed 923 trips across the Atlantic, transporting over 165,661 passengers to destinations across Europe.

“With the rise in demand for low-cost airfare, travelers are capitalizing on the opportunity to travel to new destinations on a budget that works for them. We are continuing to see a demand for transatlantic flights and are thrilled to be expanding operations in New York, Boston, Toronto and Montreal to popular European destinations in Berlin, Frankfurt and Madrid,” said Anastasija Visnakova, Primera Air Chief Commercial Officer. “We look forward to continue to provide the lowest fares available and a range of travel options, making it easier for travelers to visit destinations in North America, Europe and more.”

Flights will be operated on Boeing 737 Max 9 and the airline has placed an order of 20 aircraft to service these new routes. PrimeraAir transatlantic fleet currently consists of five brand new Airbus A321neo and short haul fleet of 10 Boeing NG737 aircraft.
