The Federal Aviation Administration revealed the issues faced by airlines were a result of a malfunction with a flight planning weight and balance program called Aerodata. The agency revealed mainline and regional operations were impacted to varying degrees.

While there are still issues being reported across the country, a Delta spokesperson told The AJC the problem had already been fixed.

“A brief third-party technology issue prevented some Delta Connection flights from being dispatched on time this morning has been resolved,” Delta said. “No cancellations are expected due to the issue and our teams are working to resolve some resulting delays. We apologize to customers for any inconvenience.”

The official Twitter accounts for Delta and Southwest revealed more information on the technical glitch:

A similar issue took place last week when widespread computer outages resulted in delays across multiple airlines, including American, Alaska and JetBlue.
