If you’re willing to fly budget.
Low cost carrier VivaAerobús just announced that it will be bringing its rock-bottom fares on routes between the United States and Mexico. Tickets for a new route between Mexico City and New York City are starting at just $100 in some cases.
VivaAerobús predicts that it will be able to offer more than 135,000 seats for passengers looking to get from New York to Mexico within the first year of running the route. VivaAerobús has been operating in Mexico for 12 years and a route between New York City and Mexico City has been highly requested among VivaAerobús passengers for quite some time. Will the rest of the world begin accepting this budget-friendly option? What happens in New York City in the months to come could answer that question.
This may be the first time that many travelers in the United States are hearing about VivaAerobús. However, in Mexico it operates 102 routes to 44 destinations using a fleet that consists of 26 Airbus A320 aircraft and four A320neo aircraft.
VivaAerobús’ expectations are certainly high when it comes to the introduction of this route. The only question that remains is whether or not people heading to and from the Big Apple will be willing to bite at this apple.
