Trump Made Santa’s Naughty List in Airline’s Christmas Ad

In the ad, Santa Claus accidentally sends his naughty list to a New Zealand boy on the list. With the list in hand and the goal of getting his name on the “nice list,” the boy calls on Air New Zealand to help him gather a global summit of naughty kids.

A red hat worn by an American boy sticks out among the naughty kids who deboard an Air New Zealand plane for the summit. It reads, “Make Christmas Great Again.”

During the “Naughty Summit,” the kids make promises in the hopes that they can change their naughty ranking to nice.

One Argentina boy says, “Argentina promises to reduce personal gas emissions by 27%,” with the translation help of an Air New Zealand cabin crew member.

Others promise to reduce hair pulling and eat more vegetables. The children’s nice rating increases on a visible dial with every new promise.

When the American boy — meant to emulate Trump — speaks, he says, “I have to say, I’m not naughty at all. In fact, I’m the nicest person I know.”

The entire summit laughs at his statement, and unsurprisingly, it doesn’t move the dial closer to the nice section.

It’s only when the New Zealand boy promises that all New Zealand kids will do their chores, spend less time on their phones, and be nicer to Australia, that the dial turns all the way to “nice.”

While some of the kids are dressed in stereotypical versions of youth from around the world, the ad has a nice ending, and the children’s summit is a success – but perhaps, no thanks to one with a very familiar red hat.
