United Working to Fly Reunited Immigrant Families for Free

United Airlines is working with advocacy groups to donate flights to immigrant families who were recently reunited with children that had been separated by government officials.

According to the San Francisco Business Times, United is teaming with FWD.us, a lobbying group fighting for immigration reform, to provide travel to the recently reunited immigrant families as they head home together.

While there are concerns that United could receive negative publicity for getting involved in a political debate, the airline was among the first to tell the United States government it wouldn’t transport immigrant children taken from parents who crossed into the country illegally.

United Airlines is proud to support the work of FWD.us as they help to reunify immigrant children with their families,” United said in a statement to the San Francisco Business Times. “United is in a unique position to provide badly needed support that few can provide to help reunify these families, and we take pride in doing our part to connect people and unite the world.”

The Hill reported earlier this week the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) planned to donate $3 million as part of a #FlightsForFamilies initiative.

RAICES is also working with FWD.us and Families Belong Together to reunite immigrant families.
