Upset Passengers Block Another Flight En Route to 29-Hour Delay

A group of delayed passengers was so heated with Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea in France over the weekend that they attempted to block another group of fliers from taking off.

According to The Local, passengers scheduled to fly from Bordeaux to the Spanish island of Mallorca Saturday morning were delayed a mind-boggling 29 hours due to a technical issue with an aircraft.

The flight was originally supposed to depart shortly after 6 a.m. local time Saturday but was delayed nine hours and then again before being rescheduled for Sunday. Passengers returned to the airport the next day to find another line of travelers awaiting Sunday’s scheduled departure.

With only one plane visible on the tarmac, the frustrated passengers who had been delayed more than an entire day physically blocked the other travelers from getting through the gate check.

The police eventually intervened but it wasn’t until three hours later that Volotea was able to bring in an additional plane to accommodate the original group, which departed for Mallorca around 11:30 a.m. local time Sunday, more than 29 hours behind schedule.

The outrageous incident was reminiscent of a British Airways flight last year that required four different planes to complete the typically four-hour flight from London to Athens. However, those poor passengers arrived 33 hours behind schedule.
