WHY IT RATES: Many clients want to support companies that are looking to change the world for the better, and travel agents can sell them on Avis as the ideal car rental choice due to the impressive work behind the scenes.—Donald Wood, Breaking News Senior Writer.
Avis Budget Group, Inc. has been recognized for its continued efforts in promoting opportunities for disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses.
Avis Budget Group was named one of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Now in its 18th year, the nationwide recognition celebrates companies that have strategically implemented processes and driven results to support sustainable inclusion for women’s business enterprises in the corporate and government supply chains.
Avis Budget Group is the only car rental company to earn a spot on the annual list and has been featured on the selective list for 17 consecutive years.
Additionally, Avis Budget Group has been selected as one of America’s Top 50 Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities. Bestowed by Omnikal business members, the annual listing, known as the “Omni50,” recognizes companies for supporting entrepreneurs throughout the United States. Avis Budget Group was once again the only car rental company to garner the accolade, and this year marks the ninth time that the Company has achieved the recognition. Omnikal was formerly known as DiversityBusiness.com.
“In our continued effort to drive mobility forward — and toward a world where mobility is completely connected, integrated and on-demand — it is imperative that we have strong partners across our supplier network,” said Larry De Shon, president and chief executive officer, Avis Budget Group. “By collaborating with disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses, we are better-positioned to deliver our world-class products and services to millions of customers around the globe. We’re honored to receive these prestigious awards.”
