WHY IT RATES: Travelers who love to hit the rails have a unique opportunity to see the world on a train.—Donald Wood, Breaking News Senior Writer.

Railbookers just launched its extraordinary Around the World by Rail vacation, giving travelers the opportunity to discover the most sought-after destinations and experiences all in one trip.

It’s not merely a train vacation, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime journey featuring unforgettable moments and adventures that are rarely seen together in a single itinerary.

MORE Car Rental & Rail

This 57-day trip is the ultimate bucket-list itinerary for those interested in traversing across four continents, 15 countries, 20-plus cities, and four U.S. national parks while enjoying some of the greatest train rides along the way.

“For many travelers, it takes a lifetime to experience a journey like this one. But when they join Railbookers, all it takes is a single train vacation,” says John Vavrina, Vice President of Sales for Railbookers. “It is undoubtedly the ultimate bucket list trip to some of the great wonders of the world. We’ve all seen around the world by private jet and cruise ship, but to truly capture the essence of a destination and its diverse landscapes, nothing beats traveling by rail.”

Travelers will venture from Chicago’s soaring skyscrapers to Central Park in New York to the Buckingham Palace in London and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. They’ll experience the lakeside sophistication of Geneva, the Colosseum and Vatican City in Rome, St. Mark’s Basilica and labyrinth of canals in Venice, and Imperial palaces in Austria.

That’s just the beginning. They’ll see the medieval Astronomical Clock in Prague, stroll the 17th-century Nyhavn canal and harbor in Copenhagen, visit Moscow’s symbolic Red Square, travel onboard the legendary Trans-Siberian Railway to Ulaanbaatar, and tour the Great Wall and Summer Palace in Beijing.

In Xi’an and Hong Kong, travelers will visit the famed Terracotta Warriors and take in jaw-dropping views from Victoria Bay. Once they reach Perth, Australia, they’ll board the luxurious Indian Pacific Train for a time-zone-hurdling, ocean-to-ocean adventure to Sydney featuring exciting excursions. Back on U.S. soil, they’ll board Amtrak’s celebrated Southwest Chief and California Zephyr trains to journey to the awe-inspiring South Rim of the Grand Canyon, as well as Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef National Parks.

Also, worth mentioning are the trip’s many package inclusions, such as sightseeing tours, skip the line access to crowd-pleasing landmarks, walking tours, and 52 meals—just to name a few. Starting at about $342 a day per person, the opportunities travelers will have to explore diverse trains and routes, landscapes, cultures, cuisine, architectural marvels, and landmarks and attractions are unparalleled.

Although this trip was curated to begin and end in Chicago, travelers can customize any portion of the itinerary to make it uniquely their own. Flights are not included from New York City to London; Hong Kong to Perth; or Sydney to Los Angeles.
