Love was in the air at Carnival Cruise Line on Valentine’s Day, allowing the cruise line to set a record for the largest vow renewal at sea.
Before Valentine’s Day, Carnival Cruise estimated that they would have more than 1,000 couples renewing their vows at sea, but following the celebrations, they discovered that they helped nearly 2,000 couples say “I do” across their fleet of ships.
The vow renewals were set up in heartwarming ceremonies in the atrium lobbies of the ships, exciting couples and vacation-goers alike. A balloon drop and celebratory toast concluded the fleet-wide record-breaking vow renewals.

Carnival didn’t just celebrate vow renewals at sea. Love was in the air… literally. Carvnial’s #ChooseFun AirShip hosted its first vow renewal ceremony in the air as it celebrated the 15-year marriage of Cathy and Jim Skoglund in a special Phoenix flyover.
The couple has been on 14 Carnival cruises, including their own honeymoon on Carnival Elation, so it was a special moment that allowed them to say “I Do” in the skies as Chief Pilot Terry Dillard performed the ceremony.
“We’ve always dreamed of having a memorable vow renewal, but this day was far beyond what we could’ve imagined,” Cathy told Carnival Cruise Line. “We love sailing with Carnival, so when we heard about the opportunity to fly with them on the AirShip, we jumped on it! We knew this was the perfect way to celebrate our day.”
