AmaMagna Continues Journey from Ocean to River

WHY IT RATES: Guests can experience life onboard the AmaMagna beginning May 5, 2019.—Codie Liermann, Associate Editor

AmaWaterways today released new photos and video of its innovative AmaMagna on the final leg of her journey from ocean to river, cruising back to the Danube River for final touches.

At twice the width of traditional river cruise ships, AmaMagna’s remarkable construction journey has taken her across various bodies of water, symbolic of the boundaries the ship is breaking through with her fresh, contemporary take on river cruising.

Bringing the luxury of more space to the river, AmaMagna took her first scenic ocean trip from the Serbian shipyard to Rotterdam where she was outfitted with luxurious furnishings and various contemporary design elements.

She has just completed her 17-day return ocean voyage into Constanta, Romania and is cruising the Danube to her winter home in Linz, Austria, where she joins several other AmaWaterways ships preparing for the 2019 spring sailing season.

AmaMagna will receive her final finishing touches before sailing seven-night Danube River cruises between Vilshofen to Budapest starting May 5, 2019.

“We first had the vision for AmaMagna nearly seven years ago. Like the ship herself, her construction journey has been a one-of-a-kind experience, and we are so pleased to be wrapping up the final details, preparing for her May debut,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AmaWaterways.

“It’s an exciting time for AmaWaterways, and we’re proud to lead the industry by offering guests a new dimension on river cruising.”

The extraordinary AmaMagna provides more personal space with most staterooms, comparable to ocean cruise ship suites, measuring between 355 and 710 square feet.

In addition, guests can look forward to two new dining venues—Jimmy’s, family-style dining named for AmaWaterways’ late co-founder Jimmy Murphy, and the Al Fresco restaurant, with retractable ceiling and windows—complimenting the Main Restaurant and the Chef’s Table Restaurant.

A robust complementary daily excursion program including escorted hiking and biking tours and group fitness classes led by a trained Wellness Host offers guests the ability to personalize their river cruise experience.

Additional features include a Sun Deck with a heated swimming pool, an expansive Zen Wellness Studio with massage, hair and nail salon services and an innovative Water Sports Platform. In addition, new Vow Renewal and Golf Concierge Programs are offered uniquely to AmaMagna guests.
