Carnival Freedom Catches Fire in Grand Turk

Cruise groups on social media filled with photos of Carnival Cruiselines’ famous “funnel” on fire aboard the Carnival Freedom while docked in Grand Turk on May 26, 2022. The incident has been confirmed by John Heald, Brand Ambassador and senior cruise director of Carnival Cruise Lines, on social media.

“Sadly it is very real but there are no reported injuries…” John Heald said in a Facebook post.

He also explained he would provide an update as soon as he could to his many followers seeking more information about the fire. That information should be available soon as Twitter user @Chester4x4, whom posted photos and video of the fire in real time, noted the fire has been extinguished and the situation is under control.

Future sailings of Freedom will inevitably be affected.
